We hosted Herbertstown on a perfect day for football in Charleville. Despite another stale mate 0-0 it was another cracking encounter.
Charleville were dominant for much of the game but the Herbertstown defense proved resilient and their keeper was very composed throughout making 2 excellent saves in particular after Stephanie broke through on goal. Lots of positives to take away including the great turn out of 16 players, our defense limiting our opponents to very few shots, Bronagh’s fantastic driving run from midfield which earned a free just outside the box and Laurens resulting free kick which forced a fine save from the keeper. Ciara hit a bullet of a shot from outside the box and it was the cross bar this time that denied us. ‘Its still rattling’. Ciara’s wing play today was excellent, great driving runs from full back. Viviana and Lauren brought great energy to the midfield and Viviana broke through the defense with her pace on a number of occasions to set up good attacks. Kayla and Hazel were a huge threat going forward. This is Kayla’s first season with the squad and she is really thriving as an attacker. ‘Players of the day’ were Stephanie and Emma with both taking on keeper duties with ease. Great contributions from the full squad today and every player is progressing. Well done girls.
