Charleville AFC 2 Holycross 0
This was very entertaining game of football. Charleville dominated posession early on but couldn’t find the net, with the Holycross goal keeper putting in a fine display between the posts. Orlaith McCauliffe is thriving up front and a shot from distance found the corner of the net to put us in front mid way through the first half. Bronagh and Hazel were excellent in the final third and Hazel set up Orlaiths second goal just before half time.
The second half was a much closer affair and all credit to Holycross for battling to the final whistle. Our goal goalkeepers Eva Madigan and Lilly O’Riordan put in great displays with both making crucial saves to keep us in front. Great to see Chloe Jones making her debut for the u12 team and putting in such a great performance along with Ciara, Megan, Emma, Emily and Leah who all showed great energy and determination. Ruth Kilcommins slotted into the centre back role effortlessly alongside Stephanie and Lauren to make up a very impressive and composed back 3. Katie Mulcahy played a starring role when coming on in defence, coming out with the ball every time we were under pressure and was very deserving of the player of the day award. Abbie-Lee, Eva and Lily were key to us holding a clean sheet in the closing stages of the game.
Well done all, a great team effort!!
