Charleville u14 boys travelled to Kilmallock on Saturday, with the following squad; Alex Kennedy, Daire McKenna, Evan O’Riordan, Eoghan Horan, Daniel Mackissey, Cian Finucane, Xaviour Nelligan, Josh Mcloughlin, Sean Fearn, Ben Ross, Evan O’Brien, Dara O’Sullivan & Nathaniel Methumbu, with the game being played in fantastic conditions on grass.
Charleville started very brightly and dominated possession in the first half and took an early lead following a lovely through ball from Cian Finucane to Evan O’Brien who calmly slotted to the back of the net with a lovely left foot finish. Soon after Charleville made it 2 following a neat finish from Josh Mcloughlin from a Cian Finucane corner.
Charleville went in at the beak 3 nil up, following a very rare header, well done to Evan O’Riordan for converting with a sweet header from a free kick. Charleville made it four early in the second half when Josh got his second of the game with a lovely finish from another set piece.
Charleville ran out comfortable winners in the end with Ben Ross, Cian Finucane and Daniel Mackissey all having a great second half and individually having big say in the final scoreline.
Alex Kennedy while not very busy in goals was his calm self when called into action, Daire McKenna & Eoin Horan was very self-assured in their part of a back 3. Xaviour Nelligan was his usual industrious self and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.
Sean Fearn & Dara O’Sullivan worked hard for the team throughout and were always available for a pass, Nathaniel Methumbu worked really hard in the 2 nd half and was unfortunate also to not find the back of the net.
Well done to the boys on a very spirited, physical football game.
