Under 12 Boys Div 1
Castle Utd 1 Charleville 0
We travelled to Martinstown on Saturday to play Castle Utd, the table toppers in our division. It was a glorious sunny afternoon, and the performance from the boys more than matched the weather.
We started well, and managed to maintain good control of possession, and put pressure on the opposition with several good attacking phases. Despite that we were unlucky to concede a soft goal in the 15th minute with a lobbed shot in the goal area which was pushed away by our outstanding keeper Luke Crotty, only find its way into back of the net. Our boys maintained good composure throughout the match, and our midfielders Adam Shanahan, Captain for the day, Conor Quinn, and Ross Manning all ensured that the opposition were not able to work through the middle of the pitch as easily as they expected. Luiz Sousa De Araujo and Daniel Flos controlled the wings well, making several good runs with Kaua Alves working up front, and had several promising chances. Unfortunately for us, Castle Utd’s defence was resolute, and attacks were well dealt with. For us defensively, James Hickey, Fionn McCarthy, Conor Walsh all put in an outstanding performances to deal with several attacks and ensure that no further goals were conceded. Many thanks also to Keanu Hoff-Nagy and Vittor Leite who joined us for the day. Both players made a huge impact to the performance of the team on the day.
The result could have easily been more in our favour, but with the way the boys are now playing we know our time will come soon.
