Scorers, Cian Finucane, Ben RossCharleville boys put in a heroic effort on Saturday in very difficult conditions in a very sporting game with Knockainey.
Our squad on the day was Alex Kennedy, Daniel Mackissey, Tiernan Walsh, Eoghan Horan, Daire McKenna, Ben Ross, Cian Finucane, Sean Fearn, Josh McLoughlin, Evan O’Brien and a special thanks to Danny McNamara who joined us for the second half at very short notice.
Knockainey started well and following a period of dominance were awarded a penalty, which they duly converted, the Charleville boys settled down and soon were awarded a free just outside the Knockainey box, which Cian Finucane duly despatched to the back of the net. Unfortunately Knockainey quickly retook the lead, following the award and conversion of another penalty.
The Charleville boys gave everything in the first half and welcomed the half time break, Charleville enjoyed a lot more possession in the 2nd half and were a lot more comfortable following the introduction of Danny McNamara, following some lovely interplay Ben Ross tucked home to level the game.
Following the equaliser, Charleville enjoyed the majority of possession that resulted in a number of corners, unfortunately none could be converted. The spirit of the Charleville boys was fantastic, special thanks to Danny and we wish our injured and sick squad members a very quick recovery.
