Shelbourne 0 Charleville 3
On Sunday the youths played away to Shelbourne United in the Ger Ryan cup.
The game opened up to be fast paced with the teams teams quickly creating chances at both ends of the pitch. Two great chances came towards the end of the first half with winger Darragh McDonagh playing a beautiful ball to Dion Curtin who came close to putting Charleville up against the opposition, with minutes to go before half time goalkeeper Paddy Twohill performed an excellent save against a well struck shot to keep the game tied going into half time. The second half was full of action with a double from Darragh McDonagh, the first being set up for him by opposite winger Matthew McCormack and the second was slotted home after a display of neat dribbling to beat his defender. The game grew intense as the opposing teams players were picking up fouls and yellow cards consistently. A third goal came for Charleville as a deflection fell for striker Cody Kok to quickly pounce on and finish from close Range.
A good game to get going again following the Christmas Break.
