Match Result: Aisling-Annacotty 1 Charleville Whites 6

The girls gave a fantastic display today and their dedication to training over the last few months is really starting to pay off. Charleville were quick out of the blocks with Hazel Mortell pouncing on a loose ball out of defence and cool as you like dinked the ball over the keeper to give Charleville an early lead.

We were in safe hands with our goal keepers Katie Mulcahy and Megan O’Connor and our defensive line was excellent throughout with Lauren Ronan playing a lead role in defence. As a result Annacotty were restricted to very few shooting chances and It took an unstoppable strike from the Annacotty number 9 to level the game. The game had all the look of 1-1 coming towards the break but Emma Foley had other ideas with a pin point strike from distance to the corner of the net. This goal gave the girls momentum and Ciara Bresnan found the roof of the net after a great interchange of play with Caila, Stephanie and Sophie to give us a 3-1 cushion at half time.

The second half was a ding dong affair in the opening 15 minutes but we were always dangerous going forward and Hazels pace continued to break the defensive line and mid way through the half Hazel struck a great shot to the corner of the net to make it 4-1. Grace Hickey was also a constant thorn in the Annacotty defence and one of her driving runs ended in a wonderful strike from distance to make it 5-1. The girls continued to chase everything and Hazel scored a well deserved hat trick to finish the scoring at 6-1. Well done girls!

We very much look forward with continuing to work with this group of players in 2022, they are a credit to the club.
