Charleville AFC 2-1 Moyross

Scorers Shane Dillon & Pa O’Callaghan

On a wet and windy Saturday evening Charleville and Moyross played out an entertaining match with the hosts grabbing the all-important odd goal in 3 as the game entered the final stages. Playing with the strong wind in the 1st half, Moyross opened the scoring in the 2nd minute with a long-range effort which flew in past goalkeeper O’Riordan. Charleville however had started well and were always a threat going forward through strike pair O’Callaghan and Dillon and it was Pa O’Callaghan who levelled the scores up on the half hour mark, expertly finishing into the top corner.

With the game poised nicely going into the final stages, O’Callaghan and Dillon linked up again with Dillon this time scoring from close range after good work from O’Callaghan down the right-hand side.

Moyross pushed players forward now in an attempt to get back on level terms, and from this Charleville had numerous chances to extend their lead on the break but with some good goalkeeping and wayward finishing it stayed at 2-1.

This result saw Charleville leapfrog Moyross in the table and move up to 3rd behind top 2 Farview B’s and Carew Park.
