FAI Youth Cup
Broadford 2 Charleville 3
Our u18s progressed to next round of FAI Youth after a 3-2 win in Broadford last Saturday on a beautiful day and a beautiful surface for football. The boys took the lead after 4 mins when a flowing move down the left between Cody Kok, Ewan Dillon and Matt McCormack saw Matt Cross first time for the in rushing Adam O Connor to score at the far post. It was 2-0 after 20 mins when a lovely back heel from Dion Curtin sent Matt McCormack one on one and he made no mistake. Broadford got a goal back on the half hour when their left winger cut in and finished well but we restored the 2 goal lead shortly after when Dion Curtin raced through and made no mistake when hitting the top corner from 12 yards out. While everything was going well at this stage we lost our way and a couple of players in the second half and it gave Broadford the initiative. They pulled a goal back from a well taken free kick with 20 mins left and try as they might could not get the equaliser. Moreover it was more looking like we would wrap the game up on numerous occasions but our finishing let us down. All in all happy to come away from a tough assignment with Fairview Rangers coming to town Sunday in the Munster youth. A big thanks to all the u17s who togged out too.
