Charleville AFC 1 (Catriona Davies)
Ballingarry 4
After a 10 month lay off due to Covid protocol Charleville ladies got back to competitive ways again last weekend as last season Premier Cup got underway. The scoreline doesn’t show how really close the game was. After a lot of early possession Charlevillle and Ballingarry managed numerous opportunities but no team could break the time. Midway through the first half our new young striker Cayleigh McNamara nearly broke free in the Ballingarry half due to some last ditch tackle which started Ballingarry off on an attack. A sweeping ball spilt the defence and played through the Ballingarry striker who got to the ball before the on rushing Amy Jenks in goal for Ballingarry to take the lead. After the water break Ballingarry doubled their leader with a powerful header from a corner and took control of the game until half time. As second half started Charleville pushed the mantle to get back into the game and with some hard running by Cayleigh McNamara up front Charleville were award a free kick which Catriona Davies Powered home to top corner from 30 yards. Charleville got more and more confident and looked to equalise the game but Ballingarry struck and 2 goals late on which secured the game.
