Charleville AFC 1 Herbertstown 0

Scorer Finn Curtin

On Saturday we played at home v Herbertstown. This was a top of the table clash between two very good sides. The pitch was in excellent condition and it was good to see all the parents there cheering on the lads..Chances were limited for both sides in the early stages as both sets of defenders were on top. Harry o Connor, Shay Noonan and Muiris o Riordan were in fine form, preventing Herbertstown from any real chances. Fionn Ronan was very calm in goals, dealing with a few back passes where his distribution was excellent. With the sides level coming up to half time Finn Curtin broke the deadlock with a well taken shot after good work from the busy Ben Ronan..With Bobby Walsh looking very threatening on the ball Charleville began to take control and played some lovely football in the second half. Tom Lowe was unlucky having a goal ruled out for offside. James Ronan was linking up well with the midfield where Marko Boyle and Shane o Donnell were working hard. Claude Keane was clearing up everything that Herberstown were throwing at him as they tried hard for the equaliser. In the end we held out for a deserving win.
