U13 boys Div 1 result

Charleville AFC 3  Pallas united 5

Scorers Noah Finn 2 & David O’Brien

Charleville Whites U13 had their first league encounter of the season last weekend at home against Pallas. We started brightly with lots of possession and some early chances. Pallas scored two goals in quick succession, against the run of play, with very well taken chances. Undeterred, we continued to dominate play, and were rewarded when Noah Finn was brought down for a penalty, after excellent link up play with Leon Barrett and Josh Coffey. He duly converted the penalty himself with an excellent finish. However, Pallas broke for a third with a quick counter just before the break. Pallas started strong in the second half, but were kept at bay by excellent defending from our backline, Barry Kiely, Charlie O’Mahony, Neil Boyle and Tymon Kedziorek, and some fine saves from goalkeeper, Muiris O’Riordan. Our midfielders, Danny McNamara, Tomas O’Riordan and Lewis Fennessey were now beginning to dominate with some great runs, and we were rewarded with a fine second goal from Noah Finn. Again, Pallas almost immediately replied with their fourth. We remained composed, and after some clever play from Cathal Curtin, David O’Brien burst through on goal, and found the back of the net with a fine finish. We continued to press hard for the equaliser, but Pallas broke again with another quick counter, and got their fifth at the death.

This was a fine performance against a very well organised Pallas side, and our boys can be very proud of themselves and this bodes well for the rest of the season.
