JUNIOR (A) TEAM REPORTS
Charleville A 4 Ballynanty Rvs 1
Sunday, August 29
After a super win on Thursday we faced a tricky game against Ballynanty on Sunday morning at Moatville. We started this game slowly and couldnt really get out of second gear. Having said that we were always in control of the game. Kev Macarthy had a great strike hit the crossbar and soon after we took the lead with a super ball from Ken O Donoghue finished well by the lively Maurice O Sullivan. Soon after this Balla suffered a number of injuries including their keeper and were reduced to ten men. We still found it hard to break them down but ten minutes from half time Martin Strhar found the net from a Ken O Donoghue corner. At this stage we would have expected to open the flood gates but it was Balla who struck back just before the half. The second half was very sluggish and we missed chance after chance. We could have been 8 or 9 goals up with an hour gone having never really played that well. But with about 15 minutes to go we started to open up a tired Balla and Martin got his second with a well placed finish. Martin then got his Hatrick when John O Driscoll put him straight through on goal. A good result at the end but we need to put teams away earlier in games. We never really played as well as we could have but to be honest winning 4-1 and not playing that well is a good sign. We do need to up it a level for Thursday away to Shannon Hibs
Charleville A 1 Granville Rags 0
On Thu August 26,
After a disapointing game on Sunday we had a chance to put things right with a tough game against Granville on Thursday. We started the game well and dominated the first half. We should really have gone in a goal or two up at half time. The second half Granville came at us but didnt really create much. Or midfield and defence always seemed to be in control and our hard work paid off five minutes from time when Scott Haworth delivered a pin point cross for Buguim to finish well. It was a well deserved win with all the lads putting in a great footballing performance.
Croom A 1 Charleville A 0
on Sunday, August 22,
Not much to say about this one. A very poor performance from the lads this morning. Croom were missing a number of players as were Charleville and it showed as both teams played a poor standard of football. Croom scored a free kick just after half time and Charleville found it hard to create any chances in the rest of the game. A match to forget about.
Charleville (A) 2 Geraldines (A) 1
on Thu August 19, 2010 at 4:37pm
We opened our league campaign in dramatic style last night. Geraldines having just come down from Premier looked to stamp their authority early on the game and their pressure told when they won a penalty after 15 minutes. This seemed to knock our confidence and we didnt create much in a half that Geraldines controlled. However the second have was a different story and we dominated the game with Geraldines rarely getting out of there half. Ken O Donoghue had a good effort saved and their keeper was called into action again with two good saves from Kevin Macarthy free kicks. With a couple of miutes to go Mark Danaher wasted a good chance when heading wide from a corner. However with only three minutes injury time left Colin O Gorman flicked on a kick out for Ken O Donoghue to finish well and a minute later Ken got his second with a carbon copy of his first. All in all it was a great second half display by everyone and we need to build on this performance on Sunday away to Croom.

On Saturday 17th Charleville U13 boys will represent the limerick Schoolboys League in the National Cup Final against DDSL side St. Francis. This promises to be a wonderful occasion for our community and all involved with Charleville Soccer Club. The 07/08 season has been very good for our club with record numbers of boys and girls participating at all levels. The season has been especially successful for the U13 boys. At Easter the boys travelled to Liverpool and won the SFAI approved Solar World Cup competition with Captain Dinny O'Neill collecting the Silverware. The League title was won thanks to impressive away wins against stiff opposition with Gavin Kelleher collecting the Silverware on this occasion. The League Cup Final will be contested by Charleville and Rathkeale before months end with Gavin Mullins leading the team. The National Cup has provided us with the opportunity to challenge ourselves against the best teams in the country. Each game has been a huge test of our ability and character. I would like to thank our opponents Herbertstown, Holycross, Limerick Regional, Mastergeeha(Kerry), Newbridge Town(Kildare), Home Farm(Dublin), Athlone Town and Clontarf(Dublin) for their hospitality and best wishes, you have made us a stronger team.
It is with great pride that we take to the field on Saturday, happy in the knowledge that we have the whole community behind us. Our success was only possible with your support. Enjoy the game.
Go raibh mile maith agat.
Tony

PLEASE SUPPORT CHARLEVILLE SOCCER BOYS IN THEIR QUEST FOR NATIONAL HONOURS! Charleville Soccer Club are extremely proud of the achievements of our all our all underage teams this season with over 300 boys and girls registered with the club and many of these teams in line for honours at League and Cup level.
Our U-13 team have reached the Quarter Finals of the Troy Cup against all the odds. In the last 32 game they travelled to Kildare to take on a very strong Newbridge Town side and following an outstanding display qualified for the last 16 on a 3-1 scoreline. Few gave Charleville much of a chance in the next round when they travelled to Dublin to play one of the strongest and most famous Schoolboy Clubs in Europe Home Farm but once again Charleville confounded the experts with a scintillating 3-1 win sending out shock waves throughout the football community in Ireland and qualifying for the National Quarter Finals. Having played their last two games away from home Charleville will certainly have to do it the hard way with another away game this time in Athlone against the local side St Francis who stand between them and a place in the National Semi Finals.
Dates of games: S.F.A.I. U-13 Troy Cup Quarter Final Charleville v St Francis in Athlone Sat 15th March 2-30 pm.

Dear Tim,
On behalf of Clontarf FC I would like to thank you and everyone at Charleville FC for your very kind hospitality on the occasion of the under 13 SFAI cup game on Saturday last 19th April 2008.

SUPERB U-13s THROUGH TO S.F.A.I. TROY CUP FINAL
Charleville U-13 Team created Club and League history on Saturday last when they qualified for the S.F.A.I. TROY CUP FINAL by virtue of their excellent 3-0 win over North Dublin side Clontarf in the semi final played at Moatville. Charleville took the lead after 16 min's when prolific goalscorer Pat O'Callaghan drove the ball home following sustained Charleville pressure. Charleville made it 2-0 6 min's into the second half when the diminutive Shane Dillon showed great class and composure as he drove the ball home although small in stature this young player stood head and shoulders above his marker. It was 3-0 after 10 mins when Pat O'Callaghan hit a superb strike following a great cross from Gary Ward. Charleville were by far the superior side and will now play St Josephs (D.D.S.L.) in the Final to be played in Whitehall Dublin home of Home Farm Football Club on May 17th. This was a proud day for all involved in Charleville Club over the years thanks to these outstanding bunch of players and team mentors Tony O'Shaughnessy, Matt Roche and Brian McCourt. Well done to all concerned on a superb achievement.
