O’HARA TO CONTINUE ON AS JUNIOR LADIES MANAGER AS HE SIGNS FOR ANOTHER YEAR

O’HARA TO CONTINUE ON AS JUNIOR LADIES MANAGER AS HE SIGNS FOR ANOTHER YEAR

Charleville AFC are delighted to announce the reappointment of Jason O’Hara as Junior Ladies First Team Manager for the 2017-18 season. Jason was first appointed to this position in June 2014 and has just completed his first season in charge in the Desmond Ladies Premier Division. This early appointment will allow Jason and his assistants to start on squad strengthening early ahead of next season.

A delighted Jason commented “After a hard fought premier campaign last season discussions began early with my back-room staff about next season. After a few months out and time to myself, I decided along with the backing of the club and my back-room team of Shane, Maurice and Mark to apply once again for the position of Junior Ladies Manager. I look forward to another campaign with a great bunch of Ladies who are still developing as a team given our short time in existence. There is much work to be done by all, but it gives me great encouragement that this appointment has been made early for all parties and we look forward to the new season, hoping to contest for silverware in the Premier Division. A new mentality will be brought to the squad and with that a different attitude is to be adopted by all involved in our gain for headlines and glory in 2017/2018”.

Chairman Kevin Buckley added:

“Everyone in the Club is delighted Jason stepped forward again and it was an easy decision for the committee. Jason has shown us in the past how committed and ambitious he is. Now that this squad have the experience of a full season of Premier Football behind them we look forward to a more successful season and to make the step up to challenge for honours.

We wish Jason and everyone involved with the Junior Ladies the very best for the new season and we would ask all our club members to get behind them to help in any way they can”.

Charleville AFC 4

Holycross 3

Charleville AFC are the current league leaders of Division 1A after a thrilling 4-3 victory on Sunday morning vs the then league leaders Holycross FC. At halftime it looked a very different story with the 1st team trailing 3-0 and lucky that it wasn’t 5 or 6, but after some “Words” at halftime the team turned the game on its head and registered 4 2nd half goals to take the points and make it 4 wins in 4 games for Adam Castle’s newly assembled side. Pa O’Callaghan got the first 2 goals through individual brilliance, Gary Ward evened up the scores with a 25 yard rocket of a shot into the bottom corner and shortly afterwards the turnaround was complete when Shane Dillon worked himself some space on the edge of the box to fire Charleville in front on 70 minutes. The defence superbly marshalled by centre back paring of Jeremy Bridgeman and Darren Butler held firm under a late onslaught from the visitors to secure the win as the full time whistle sounded. The game was a great advert for League 1A soccer, and the majority of supporters went home delighted with the teams 2nd half response to a poor opening to the match.
