Castle Commits as Charleville AFC reappoint Adam Castle as first team manager for the 2017/18 Season

The club are delighted to announce the reappointment of Adam Castle as first team manager for the 2017-18 season. Adam was appointed in May 2016 and is coming to the end of his 1st season in charge, having secured promotion back to the Limerick District Premier League with games to spare it has allowed us the opportunity to bring forward discussions that would normally take place after the season has come to a close. This early decision will allow Adam and his assistant Darren Hedderman to start on squad strengthening early ahead of next season’s new challenges. Castle remarked: “I’m happy that we have agreed a way forward for next season this early. I met with Kevin (Chairman) recently and we had a good discussion on what my personal ambitions are and what the ambitions of the club are over the next 3 to 5 years, although there is much work to do on and off the pitch in terms of recruitment the club is certainly moving forward, it has a strong squad of players and facilities to be proud of which is a credit to those running the club past and present. We have plenty of work to do in the summer in order to keep us moving forwards but myself, Darren and Kevin are ready for this challenge” Chairman Kevin Buckley added “Everyone at the Club is delighted Adam has agreed to remain on as our Junior 1st team manager, to secure his services for the future was our number 1 goal and we all look forward to working with him in the coming seasons. I know he is as ambitious for our Club as we all are. We have seen Adam bring a tremendous spirit and work ethos to our Club. He has built a squad of youth and experience and this season we have enjoyed watching some wonderful football. It is great news that Adam’s assistant Darren Hedderman has also given his commitment to continue working with the club as he is a very valued member of the 1st team set up. Next season will be a big step up both on and off the pitch as we move back to the Premier League and we would ask all our club members to get behind Adam and Darren to help them in any way they can”.

Eoghan Buckley with Charleville U8 team feb 2016

We are lucky to have such large numbers at our U8 weekly training that we were able to enter three U8 Charleville Teams in the U8 Limerick County Blitz that was held in the Charleville Community Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon. Three of our Youth Volunteers managed our teams, Tony Curtin, Michelle Dundon and Eoghan Buckley, well done to them for doing a fantastic job with the kids. We also had five of our volunteers Jena O’Connell, Chloe Dundon, Mary Claire Carroll, Caitlin Reynolds and Grace Galvin on hand to ref the games. We are very lucky to have such fantastic youths involved with our club. A big thanks to Kevin Buckley who trains the U8 boys and girls and was on hand on Saturday to oversee the clubs involvement in the Blitz.

To All Our Volunteers:

You may not be aware of the fact that any person working or volunteering with children in any capacity on behalf of a club needs to have completed an FAI approved “Basic Awareness” training course. As a result we in Charleville AFC will host a Basic Awareness workshop in Charleville to facilitate our volunteers on Monday January 25th, 2016 from 7pm-10pm in the Community Hall, Chapel Street. The course will be delivered by a qualified FAI (Football of Ireland) instructor and the cost of the workshop is €10 per person attending. We thank you for giving up your time to volunteer with our club and we would appreciate if you would make every effort to attend this workshop, if you cannot make this workshop you will have to attend a workshop elsewhere to ensure you can continue to volunteer. If you would like to attend please contact Eileen on 0852311980.
